6 April 2024

Welcome to our comprehensive guide on Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings, focusing particularly on the crème de la crème — the elite tier quarterbacks that can make or break your fantasy football season. In this analysis, we will dive deep into the stats, consistency, and game-changing abilities of these top-tier quarterbacks, providing insights to aid you in making informed decisions for your fantasy team. Whether you’re a seasoned fantasy football enthusiast or just getting started, understanding the dynamics and potential of these leading quarterbacks is essential in navigating the challenging yet thrilling world of fantasy football.

1. Patrick Mahomes

Does anything even need to be said here? With the uncertainty of Josh Allen’s weapons at the moment, coupled with Mahome’s consistency, he has cemented himself as the QB1. No matter his weapons, O-line, or schedule, Mahomes always delivers. Even with the occasional injury, he has proved time and time again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the fantasy world.

Mahomes is not just a great quarterback, but also a game-changer. His impressive arm strength, pinpoint accuracy, and ability to make plays on the run have earned him the title of “MVP” and made him

2. Josh Allen

Coming in at a close second is Josh Allen. The Buffalo Bills quarterback has made significant strides in his game, elevating himself into the elite tier of quarterbacks. He possesses a combination of arm strength, mobility, and accuracy that makes him a deadly threat on the field.

One key factor that sets Allen apart from other quarterbacks is his rushing ability. He consistently racks up touchdowns and yards on the ground, making him a valuable asset in fantasy football. With an improved supporting cast, Allen is poised to have another impressive season and solidify his position as one of the top QBs in the league.

3. Lamar Jackson

This is the spot where the rankings get interesting. There are a handful of names you can take around here; however, Jackson, just coming off his year 26 and second MVP standings, has to stick out. He finished as QB4 this year, averaging 21.1 points per game. His rushing abilities, new weapons, and the fact that he has proven he can deliver puts him over some of the younger emerging QBs.

4. Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow is coming off of a down season where he battled injury and missed a lot of time. Do not let this distract you from what he is able to do. He is attached to one of, if not the best WR in the NFL, for the long-term future. Over his career, he has averaged 18.4 points per game, and this includes last season’s disappointing 14.7 points per game. With a full offseason plus some to get healthy, Burrow should be geared up and ready to return to his old ways next season.

5. CJ Stroud

Here he finally is. Stroud is coming off of a fantastic rookie showing where he averaged 18.7 points per game with a WR room of Nico Collins and Tank Dell when healthy. Now he gets Diggs and Joe Mixon added to the offense as well. He should be geared up to take even another step forward. The only reason he isn’t higher is that the other QBs have proved they can continue to deliver year after year, but give it one to two more seasons and Stroud could be right up there with the top 3, battling for QB1.

6. Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts proves that at the moment, the top tier of QBs really is a deep tier. Hurts is coming off a QB2 season where he averaged 21.9 points per game. The Eagles definitely struggled towards the end of the season, but due to his rushing upside, Hurts continued to deliver. The real question mark comes from finding out how crucial Jason Kelce was to the way the Eagles run the tush push. Over his 15 rushing TDs last season, Hurts accumulated 39 yards. If he takes a hit from the rushing TDs, he won’t finish the same as last year, but it should still be impressive. If he does not take a hit in rushing production, he’s one of the best values in the top tier of QBs.

7. Kyler Murray

This one might be controversial. This next tier of QBs is where questions really start to pop up. Kyler Murray is coming off of a season where he played 8 games and averaged 18.9 points per game. He’s averaged 19.9 points per game over his career, and now he could be adding Marvin Harrison to his offense. I’m not sure why Kyler isn’t ranked higher by the community, but his rushing abilities paired with the fact that he will be getting top-tier WR talent added in the draft puts him here on this list for me.

8. Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert. Where to begin? He’s clearly an extremely talented QB, and I want to be able to put him higher on this list, but he has taken a significant drop-off the last two seasons, and now he is in an offense with zero weapons. He will most likely be getting some top-end talent in the draft, but under the new Harbaugh regime, I expect a run-heavy offense, and until we see what the offense looks like, I have to have Herbert in the back half of this list.

9. Caleb Williams

Here he is, the man of the year. Caleb Williams has been hyped up for the last couple of years with the way he has dazzled in college, both at Oklahoma and USC. All signs point to him landing in Chicago, and if that is true, he will be landing in possibly the best spot a rookie QB has ever landed. He has rushing upside, but he also will have receiving weapons of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, DeAndre Swift, as well as anyone they add in the draft. I could easily see Caleb be ranked at the top of this tier come the start of the season.

10. Anthony Richardson

Anthony Richardson started his NFL career with a bang. He scored 21.9 his first game and immediately showed how deadly his rushing ability can be for fantasy. However, it was also this rushing that got him into trouble with injuries. Now, I’m not someone to call a player injury-prone. Injuries are a random part of the game that can happen at any time or can not happen at all. However, since he only got to play two full games this season, I have a hard time putting him higher on this list. That being said, his rushing ability makes him easily the most exciting player on this end of the list and the one who could most easily move up to the top tier.

11. Jordan Love

Although he’s not a rookie, Love’s first season as a starter proved to be a very successful one. Love didn’t really have a clear-cut WR1 but rather had a ragtag team of young WRs. Love delivered a stellar QB5 performance in his first year. He averaged 19.4 points per game and did so after overcoming some struggles early in the season. If Love continues to develop chemistry with his WRs and has one establish themselves as the clear WR1, he will continue to move up rankings.

12. Trevor Lawrence

Mr. Divisive is here. Trevor is coming off a semi-underwhelming junior season where he averaged 17.3 points per game. However, Lawrence was dealing with injuries in the second half of the season, and the team had him play when he should have been out. This year was the first time he missed a game due to injury, and through the last 4 weeks, it absolutely negatively impacted his fantasy production. With a full offseason to recover, I expect Trevor Lawrence to be back to the production of his first two seasons, and the community to be back on his side. I would absolutely be using this drop in price to add Lawrence to my teams, as he seems to be the answer for Jacksonville long term.

Bottom Line

The landscape of fantasy football quarterbacks is as dynamic and intriguing as ever. Each QB brings a unique set of skills and circumstances that can drastically affect their Dynasty value. From the proven consistency of veteran players to the exciting potential of newcomers, the depth of talent is evident. Key considerations like offensive weapons, injuries, and changes in coaching staff can all play pivotal roles in a quarterback’s success. As we look forward to the next season, it’s clear that understanding these factors and monitoring developments will be crucial for fantasy managers aiming to secure a top-tier QB. Whether investing in a well-established name or taking a chance on an emerging star, the decision could make all the difference in the quest for fantasy football glory.
